Water And Its Importance During Exercise

We all know that it is important to be hydrated, but during workouts this is even more crucial. Water plays an important role in a variety of bodily functions during exercise. This includes such things as helping us regulate our body’s temperature, transporting vital nutrients throughout our body, helping with elimination of waste (and sweat) during workouts, and even lubricating our joints so the function properly.

If you don’t drink enough water, you will likely feel fatigued and may experience unpleasant side effects such as body cramps. In the most serious cases, you can even faint, or experience a heat related illness such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke!

Paying attention to your body before, during and after workouts will help you ascertain whether you are taking in enough water. For example, if you weight more right after a workout, this means you are probably well hydrated, and may even be drinking more than necessary. A weight loss right after a work out means you are not drinking enough. Remember, you will not see real weight loss immediately after a workout - but you can see water loss.

Also, pay attention to your urine. Light colored urine generally means you are fine, while darker colored urine suggests you need to pay more attention to how much water you are drinking.

Having water conveniently available to you during a workout will help a lot. Some fitness machines, such as my favorite - the Yowza Captiva elliptical machine - have special cup holders for your water bottle. But make sure that any bottle you use will not spill and damage the machine during the workout either.

Water is an often neglected but extremely important element for your workout success. It is also important when it comes to diet. Keep in mind that many people eat when they are actually thirsty. So by staying hydrated you will likely avoid unwanted calories in your diet as well.

Welcome To My New Fitness Tips Blog!

Doing YogaHi I’m Mariah and I’m a exercise and fitness lover. I’ve worked in the fitness industry for many years now, and I started this blog so that I can share some of my best tips with those who are looking to succeed with their fitness and exercise weight loss goals.

I know from personal experience how frustrating it can be not to reach your goals. There have been times where instead of losing weight I actually gained weight instead! I also know that when such setbacks occur, it is easy to lose focus and stop trying to lose weight or get into better shape.

However, after years of study and trying many different programs, diets and more, I’ve learned a lot of valuable lessons about how to effectively lose weight, what are the best elliptical machines and other professional and home gym equipment that can help you to succeed, what fad diets to avoid, how to cut calories effectively from your diet without feeling starved, and a lot more.

I’ve learned during the past few years many tips and tricks that have helped me personally stick to my workout routines. And I’ve also learned what I need to avoid. Although my experiences might not be the same as everyone else, I do think they are representative of a lot of people hoping to achieve similar goals.

So I hope to share this information with you and that you find my tips and advice useful on your own fitness journey. Although I’m still learning myself, I think (and hope) that by sharing my experiences I can at least help one other person - and hopefully a lot more - achieve their goals as well.

Thanks for visiting my blog, and I hope you return again soon! I expect to be updating this blog regularly in the weeks to come.
